Ecotopia Prime Server Guidelines

Who are we?

Ecotopia Start in 2017 with Eco release 0.5. Days after days the community grows. En 2018, Spriti and Amphysbaenas have pooled their efforts to purpose to Ecotopia community stable machine, good support with active admins, a new website. They desire to develop Ecotopia community by offering them a fantastic experience and perhaps a new perspective in way to life.

Definitions

• Community: A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
• Guidelines: General rules, principles, or pieces of advice.
• Harassment/Bullying: Aggressive pressure or intimidation.
• Griefing/Trolling: The act of irritating and angering people through the use of destruction, construction, or social engineering.
• Slur: A derogatory or insulting term applied to particular group of people.
• Threats: a statement of an intention to inflict pain, injury, damage, or other hostile action on someone in retribution for something done or not done.
• Sportsmanship: Fair and generous behavior or treatment of others.
• Ban: Removal of a player from the Server. Permanent unless specified otherwise
• NSFW: not safe (or suitable) for work (used in electronic communication to indicate that a particular web page or website contains explicit sexual material or other adult content).
• Elections: In-Game elections are possible to elect a world leader.

Community Ethics

1. Fair Play: Ecotopia believes in respectful treatment of one another and promotes good sportsmanship. Specifically, ECO is a community driven game, where each action we take impacts one another. Try to work with each other and be careful to not be forceful in your dealings with one another. Respect each other’s creative vision and time investment into the game.
2. Respect & The Law of Reciprocity: Treat others as you want to be treated!
3. Keep it PG: Some of our players are under 18 years of age. Please keep your behaviour appropriate for all ages and avoid NSFW discussions/behaviour.
4. Respect each other’s Privacy: Do not ask or solicit for personal information, social media accounts, or “real name” someone without permission. Respect the use of internet personas as they often guard someone’s real life identity. Never give your personal information out to anyone who asks for it, this can include your real name, passwords, financial information, etc.

Policies

1. Harassment,Bullying, Griefing and Trolling: The first offense will be met with a warning. If a player, or, group of players continue to Harass, Grief or Troll another player or group of players, this will escalate to a server ban. In an extreme case that results in mass player dissatisfaction, the offending player or players will be banned without warning.
2. Hate Speech and Other Harassment: Any content or activity that facilitates, promotes, or encourages discrimination, harassment, or violence based on race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, disability, religion, or nationality is prohibited. Players caught uttering slurs, threats or treating another player in a toxic manner may result in a ban, depending on severity. No one at any level is exempt from this rule.
3. Adult or Explicit Content (NSFW) : Please keep in mind that the server is an all ages server. Conversations that are leud, explicit, or intoxicated will result in a single warning before a ban from the server. You are heavily encouraged to have private conversations or keep such topics to your own personal social media accounts. Distribution of sexually explicit images or content is a bannable offence.
4. Soliciting Personal Information/Social Media: Do not solicit anyone’s personal information or seek them out on social media without an invitation. Asking for an invitation is considered solicitation.
5. Claiming Territory: Please leave 25-50 blocks (5-10 property claims) between you and another player’s territory. If you are in a clustered territory, please reach out to the people in that cluster before you settle.
6. After 15 days of Inactivity, a Player’s claimed territory will be unclaimed by Admin staff. This is to prevent clutter and free up space for regular players.
7. Placing property claims on another player’s working area (area the player has invested time into developing but has not claimed yet, e.g., a mine) will result in those property claims being deleted with no refund to the player who set them.
8. Establishing a Township or Faction: This is encouraged, but it is asked that you do not harass people to give you property claims for faster expansion. Placing people under your single property claim is heavily discouraged.
9. Over-Hunting Animals: Please be mindful of harvesting too much from the population at a time. This is to keep our world supplied with animals, as they can go extinct.
10. Over-Harvesting Crops/Trees: It is considered poor sportsmanship to over-harvest or hoard naturally found resources without replacing them in the game. Ecotopia worlds have limited ressources, over-harvesting/hoarding is a problem, as some resources will become impossible to find naturally.
11. Donations: Donations will never offer protection to player that not respect rules. Donator are players like the others.
12. Tailing and Pollution Management: In the game, you can cause damage to the area around you via tailings and air pollution caused by production. It is asked that you properly store your tailings in Stone, and have adequate forest coverage for your air pollution. Dumping tailings into the ocean is considered poor form. It is considered griefing to dump your tailings or channel your air pollution on another person’s property. If you are caught doing this, you may be banned. You can set laws to regulate pollution.
13. World Leader & Elections: The world leader title only grants you the ability to arbitrate taxes and allocate fund. A world leader can be revoked at any time by vote through a new run for election. This role does not constitute authority over other players. If a world leader is bribing players for votes with currency, that world leader may be banned, depending on severity.
14. Breaking down items/Taking items that don’t belong to you is considered griefing. If in doubt, ask in chat. “If you didn’t make it, don’t take it.” Your first offense is met with a warning, if you continue to do this, it may escalate to a ban.
15. Laws / Vote on Laws: People are encouraged to purpose law, discuss about them on EcoServerPanel and Forum. Using laws to block, abuse other players will result in a warn or a ban.
16. And don’t forget, playing on Ecotopia’s server is a priviledge, not a Right

Formal Complaint Process

In the event someone has violated our policy or ethics, you as the player have the power to ask to submit a formal complaint (grievance). The steps are as follows:

1. Alert an administrator staff member privately, with a brief description of the alleged offense and the username of the individual.
2. An administrator will then bring this issue up to other administrators privately, and investigate the issue.
3. Once the issue has been investigated (proof, etc.), the Admin will reach out to the person who put in the complaint to share the results, if possible.
4. The decision of the Admins is final. Please understand that they will try to resolve all issues fairly to all parties involved.

Administrative Roles

Being Administrator / Moderator is a privileged, with a desire to serve the community and help maintain it. If an Administrator / Moderator abuses their privilege, violates the community standards, or becomes unavailable,  it will be returned to a regular player status.

Ethics of an Admin / Moderator:

1. Honesty
2. Integrity
3. Accountability
4. Availability

Roles of an Admin / Moderator:

1. Restart the Server when there are confirmed issues. When restarting: make a discord and in-game announcement so players can pause production.
2. Manage the community by holding all players and staff to the policies and guidelines.
3. Animate discord and website.
4. Assist new players where possible.
5. Reimburse bugged/Lost items due to issues out of the player’s control.

Expectations of Admins:

1. Do not abuse the privilege of having access to the game’s administrative commands. You may not use them for your own benefit unless approved by the server owner or the admin director. See the approved list of admin commands.
2. Do not dispense items without consulting other Admins or the Server Owner.
3. Be available via Discord (minimum chat + English).
4. Have a regular presence in the community.
